Hello Everyone,
I recently took hold a brand new 2009 Ranger, 2WD Supercab w/2.3 liter and 5spd automatic. I would like to add a 3-in 2WD lift and 30 or 31 inch tires. I currently have the 4.10 gear ratio. I would like some opinions on how this set up will do to my overall performance. Also I would like to know if anyone in this forum could share their experience with this similiar set up on their trucks. What is the comparison between the stock performance and the lifted truck? I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Esteban Leon.

Going to lag a little bit with those tires, but with the power of those newer duratec 4cyl motors, you should be fine with 4.10's and 31's id you're just DD it.

It won't be a sports car, but 4.10s matched with the 5 speed, you shouldn't have any issues on the street.... Even with mild offroading you should be alright.

I'd go shorter in gear with bigger tires (even 31's)... When I re-gear I'm going to 4.56 with a 32" tire and a 4.0L... That way if you ever want to go bigger (of course you will!) you have that option without re-gearing again... I think 90% of vehicles should come with shorter gears from the factory than they do...

I've got a 08 2.3L with 4:10 in the back and am running 30" M/Ts. 0 to 20 mph its nice and quick but 30 to 60 mph she is a little sluggish. I would have to agree about changing the gears, its on the ever growing to-do list. I'm also getting ready to put in 2" leveling coils on the front end to try to get rid of the factory rake so not sure about the lift. But as long as you dont plan on drag racing you should not notice to much.
