Hey, I'm Lenny from Massachusetts

One of my first vehicles was a 1986 Ranger regular cab short bed with a 2.0L 4 speed plus overdrive manual in Light desert tan. It was inherited from my uncle who passed. Was a work truck with no options at all. No power steering, no power brakes, no radio, etc. I loved that little truck!

Well recently I've decided to get ahold of another first Gen Ranger, but this time a super cab long bed and build a street/drift truck out of it. Gonna run an Australian 4.0L inline 6 Barra turbo with a T56 Magnum 6-speed and most likely an Explorer 8.8 31 spline with a TrueTrac and disc brakes. I know this will be a multi year project as it'll also be a full frame off resto at the same time.

I look forward to sharing my built with you all and getting any help/advice you all have to offer!

Welcome to TRS :)

Ford never made Ranger with super cab and long beds but you can build one
Regular cab and extend(super) cabs both came with same 6ft bed/rear frame

Regular cab only, did have the option of 7ft bed, called Long Bed Ranger, but its rear axle is 6" farther back so a different frame, you can't just drop a 7ft bed on a 6ft frame, wheel wells won't line up

So you need to get a 7ft bed and rear frame, cut off rear section of 6ft frame and then weld/bolt the 7ft frame to it, also get the longer rear drive shaft from the 7ft Ranger

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll be just going with a Super Cap 6ft then lol
