So i have a tired 4.0/manual in my pseudo Mazda/Ranger 2WD. I have a 289/C4 combo I'd like to swap in. In reading a lot, here is what I came up with.

Everything will fit and I can use the old 289 exhaust manifolds. Transmission will fit with a bit of firewall massaging to get to bolts. Also need to modify the front to back transmission crossmember. Driveshaft should work after I change to right yolk.

Question - in doing the carb setup, how do I take care of the fuel issue? I have a van mechanical fuel pump available (inverted) will that work? What about all the electronics? Can I just leave all the other stuff unhooked? THis is where I need guidance.

THanks!

Frankly, the easiest way to deal with the fuel system is to leave the EFI intact.

You can run a 5.0 EFI setup on a 289 and that will make it easier to get going.

289 used a different firing order

The 302 HO used a 351 firing order. The standard 302, with still had EFI for a few years should be a standard order.
