Is there some magical way to test your fuel pumps to see which one isn't working? My ranger just kinda choked started to lose power and then finally stalled as I was driving to work. I tried putting some gas in it but its still just turning over and when I turn the key to "ON" and get underneath I can't hear the fuel pump.

Are you sure that it's not an electrical problem?

Do this so that the pump will run all of the time.

Check the inertia switch first, make sure it isn't tripped. Probe for voltage before and after, and that should get you a good start on figuring out what is wrong. Good mid-spot to test and verify that they are getting power. If no power is getting there at all, your pumps are probably fine.

There's a lot that needs to happen for the pumps to run. The cab mounted pump is usually very audible.

When you have the key in "ON" position, the pumps will only power up for a few seconds to pressurize the system. They won't be on continuously until the truck is actually running. Best way to do it is get inside, shut the doors, roll the windows up, and get into the quietest environment possible, then Key On and listen. You should hear a whine/buzz noise for a few seconds if the pumps are working correctly.

Problem is there is a distinct busying sound from my truck telling me to put my seat belt on even when my seat belt is on. Most useless safety reminder ever!
