Hey guys,
The names Jason, I just got rid of my 81 ford bronco (351w. c6 np208. 2 " rancho lift, 35" MT baja claws. etc...) and I am going to replace it with a ranger. I live in Whittier, CA (about 15 miles out of down town L.A.) and want to get the most info about whats good to buy and whats not.

I want to get a ranger that is 4x4, manual trans and the ability pull, but nothing serious. Fire roads and a little mud, maybe pull a small pop up trailer.

I am on a budget and will build the rig up instead of buying it done, so I want a late 80s or early 90s unless its a waste of time.
If there is a thread on here or a section that I should look at for this type of info, please hook me up with a link.
Thanks,
Jason

just fyi, the first generation rangers up to 88 don't come with a 4.0L only 2.9 so im thinking that you want a second generation ranger. Your bronco had the same TTB suspension as all 4x4 rangers up to 98 i believe( correct me if im wrong ). 1990-2000 the engine specs are
160hp @ 4200 RPM
220 @ 2400 RPM
what the 4.0L lacks in horsepower( comparative to the 140hp of 2.9) it makes up for with its low end torque

i hope this helps alittle

Thanks, then I will lean more towards a second gen. Anymore advise on pros and cons of certain years?
