Hey folks! My '99 Ranger XL Sport is a regular cab, 2wd, 2.5L/auto that the Ford dealership where I work bought new. It was their Parts Department truck up until last month. It has 471,xxx miles on it (orig engine, 3rd trans). I'm torn between nursing it to 500K, swaping in another 2.5L, or a 5.0 swap...
Overall, I'm happy with it , but an extended cab, 5-spd sure would've been sweet, haha!
 
Nurse it & save up for a VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV-8!
 
351w is in the works. Still researching/deciding on other aspects like auto or 5-speed, lower it 2/3, or go the prerunner route. Being such a short truck, I'm afraid it would look funny sitting sky high...?...
Any way, the 5.8 is a given. If it gets lowered a little, I'm thinking AOD. If it were prerunner'd, 5-speed gets the nod
 
...oh yeah. Still trying to find out what the difference is in the 'Sport' model. Whatever it is, I can't help but notice that most lowering kits specify "Does not fit 'Sport' model". -Grrr!
