Well as the title states, I am new to this rangers and fords in general. I work for an Audi/VW shop here in the north suburbs of chicago called Dub Werks. but recently bought an 1989 Ranger single cab v-6 5-speed manual. The carfax was clean at it was an old mans, which from what I was told was drivin very often.

it sits with just under 59K under the odometer, is there any way to tell if its rolled over. the truck is super clean with very VERY little rust, and paint wear for its age.

the rear diff is leaking but thats is any easy fix and all wires, plugs, and belt have recently been replace. but just looking for a heads up as to if there is anything thing I should watch out for?

I did some research and found that the heads seem to be one of the bigger issues with the truck but were redesigned in 89 (however still had issues). but other then that the truck runs great, decent gas mileage. thanks in advance.:icon_thumby:

Check to see if the brake and clutch pedal pads are worned.

Yeah, the clutch seems sold. no slipping and the brakes seem to be... well. stopping. or did you mean something else by that?

Yes, the rubber pads on the brake and clutch pedals inside the cab...if it only has 59k, likely the rubber pads will be slightly to moderately worn, if they're smooth and shiny, it's likely to have rolled over once..
the heads can be an issue, but you can minimize problems by keeping your anti-freeze level up and making sure to keep on top of any other cooling system problems such as leaky heater cores, radiator caps and hoses, rusty or leaky freeze plugs.. sounds like it's in great shape...
If you post some pics, we'll all tell you how cool it looks and what a sweet deal you got...

yeah I took a look at that last night, seems like the only wear on the pedals is on the corners. so looks like I am in pretty good shape.
