Been checking out your site for a while and finally joined. I have a 1993 Ranger XLT ext cab 4.0l 4x4. The tyranny is shot (A4LD). I'm needing a stout complete rebuild kit or are there and compatible transmissions that I could use. I've heard that the tyranny I have is notorious for being bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LOL,...tyranny is always bad...

Welcome Khardy1...we are usually friendly on here but tend to take some laughs at the expense of new or old members...don't feel like we are picking on you...typos happen...not like we are all perfect (only some of us are)...

I'm not sure about replacements for the transmission...they are fairly plentiful so you should be able to find one...and you can use, I think, up to 2001 without worrying about too much as long as it comes from a 4.0 truck with the same 2wd or 4wd...there were some changes to the transmission and the engine around that time that may require modifications or a different computer.

I just read an article in the tech library on this transmission because I'm looking at putting one in my 2.5 truck (not the same bell housing so they are specific to the motor)...good article...

I wasn't trying to make fun of the OP. I thought they were joking themselves. It IS kinda funny.

BTW, I thought it stopped being the A4LD and became the 4r44e or whatever sometime in the mid 90's..
