I am newly married, I am used to old Mercedes Benz diesels. My new wife has a 1990 Ford Range Pick up, 140,000 miles, burns about one gallon of oil a month. It was hesitating last night and she went to work and it lost power, she had to drive the last six miles in third gear and now it doesn't have enough power to start. The battery is fine. I am looking for some suggestions. Going to pick her up now.

You sure its burning oil and not just leaking it? Mine loved to mark its territory before I replaced all the gaskets.

I'd prefer and old wife with a new Ranger. Fewer headaches. lol. Oh, and welcome!

Check the oil. Check the rad fluid. What engine, transmission? When was the last tune-up?

Oh, and welcome to TRS.

Getting to the bottom of it

I had a friend with a Ford Expedition take me to pick up a transport at U-Haul and we went to get my wife and her broken down 1990 Ford Ranger. It started and we drove it on the transport and hauled it bake home, drove it off of the transport and around the block and had no problem. I am going to replace the fuel filter and see how it responds.

Check the basics, make sure there is oil in it, and water....I'm not kidding.
