My dimensions are 50x8x11.5 which puts me at 1.82 Gross. Displacement for the sub alone is 0.12 which leaves me at 1.70. Ive gone to carstereo.com (is this source reliable?) and seen I needed a minimum area of 28.7 for my vent. With my dimensions I came up with a vent thats 10 high and 3 wide with an overall length of 35.12in. This is all tuned for 34hz with the 1 10" SSA Icon sub. Do I seem to be on the right path now? I think I'm getting closer to understanding this but definitely open to suggestions and any help would be greatly appreciated? Again, thanks for any help!

Dont forget to include the volumetric area of the port in figuring your net volume of the enclosure. Dont go too far away from what the specs' sub enclosure volume is. Also remember the more power you push to the sub, the larger the ported enclosure (smaller for sealed) needs to be...

Lookin at a lil over 1 cu.ft. after displacement which should be enough for my sub...Im going to do a mock up tonight and post it to see what yall think.

Here's the mock up. Any suggestions? Is the sub and vent location ok in relation to each other?

I've built a few sub boxes, so def not an expert here but your volume after subtracting the port is 2 cubic feet. The port seems way to big to me. You don't see any aftermarket ports that big. I built a bandpass box for two 10" subs that was like 40"X10"X18" that used four 4"X 6-8" round PVC ports in shop class. Sounded real good. Was thinking of building another like it.

I have built over 300 boxes, and i can tell you, that vent orientation will not be optimal... your box will have loading issues rendering the small area useless...

This^^ plus if you build a sealed box you'll have 1) a smaller box (usually) and 2) you'll get better response over a wider range of bass notes.

Your box is not deep enough, and as stated, rendering it useless. If you are restricted to that depth, switch to sealed. If your box was twice as deep as it is now, then the port woud be useful in its location...
