new tranny in

got a 89 ranger 149k 2.9 auto not a spec of rust bought it for 400 bucks the tranny was out bought a new one and put it in, got problems, when driving and shifting from 1st to second it kinda bumps into 2nd gear like a shift kit, and when deccelarating from 2nd it bumps into first. doesnt do it in any other gear, what could it be. other than that tranny works great and im happy.!!!

It might have a shift kit in it... where'd U get the tranny?

I did a rebuild on a turbo 400 years ago and it did the same thing. We were kids so we were amazed it worked at all.

Check the vacuum modulator it may be starting to go bad, check the vacuum line gping to it.

i did check the vacuum and it does have sucktion, i bought it for 400 from frankfort it came from a bronco2

My A4LD did that for a while after I had it rebuilt. The guy that did mine said that it would be a little stiff for a hundred or two hundred miles, but if it did it still after the break-in then I should adjust it.

Mine did the same thing, and now it won't shift at all. So now I'm working on getting it going.

i bought it with 101k miles on it so not that much . shouldnt be bad
