New tools you've bought recently?

I have some 4 gauge wire to crimp terminals on to in my relatively immediate future.
Yeah... I bought a cheaper version a year or so ago. I also have one you clamp in a vise... but it doesn't play well "on-vehicle".

Im just not sure i would ever use an expensive one enough to justify the cost. You're younger and pulling wrenches for a living these day... so I get it.

Can you do both almonds and walnuts with that thing?

HF 3/8 Torque Wrench
HF 7 amp Wheel Grinder with Diamond Blades.

That is a bad ass crimper...
Different brand but same design that I bought 35 years ago for my electrucal contracting business. It's not fancy. But it served me well.

I bought an Ammco 4100 brake lathe last Friday. I found it on a FB Marketplace ad. Some guy was selling a whole trailer load of stuff that he got from an estate auction (I think in Montana) and was hauling it home to Alabama... and selling off pieces as he went... super cool guy but man his trailer looked like the beverly hillbillies.

He was asking $1500, I talked him down to $600 (about what I've seen several others sell for at auction lately) and then after looking at it I found that he broke off a piece that guides the arbor back & forth... I think I can weld it or it's replaceable, worst case... an unfortunate mistake when he loaded it with a skid steer. So I ended up buying it for $250. Maybe scrap/parts value. It did come with a LOT of cones, adapters, etc. I dropped it when we brought it in the shop and broke one of the mounting feet off. Bummer deal but I think I can fix that too...just frustrating.

Aside from the broken stuff it appears to be working. I'm sure I can make my money back if it ends up being a dud but I've kinda wanted one for a while to turn brake drums and rotors and maybe flywheels. Now I have to find a place to put the stupid thing. I had no idea how heavy these are!

From the same guy I also got this nylon fuel line repair kit for $20 so I THINK that maybe makes up for the broken parts at bit!!

I’ve been wanting a brake lathe for a while too.

Also don’t have space for one.

The used ones around here seem to go for $1500 to $3500 depending if they have all the accessories or not, and how clean it is.

Still a good deal
Compared to a new one, but not an impulse buy.

It just needs 110v power so in theory I could put it in the back of my garden shed but getting it in there might be a real challenge. I hate to dedicate space in the shop to something like this but already I am almost at the point of kicking one truck outside so that I can convert 1/4 of the shop to a machinery bay. I really need just a bit more land to drop a couple shipping containers on, then I can fill them with crap like this that I rarely use and it'll be out of the way.

It came with a big tote full of accessories. I think it actually has some cones and stuff from an Ammco 5000 but there's an adapter to make them work on my machine. I feel like the place that this stuff came from just threw things in boxes without knowing what went where... I also got a partial set of radiator tester adapters and what I think are tailgate latch rods.
