Hey! I'm new here but I've used the forum many times over the years to get me out of a bind on my truck. I want to pay it more attention now since it's getting older.

I've got a 1998 Ranger. 4 cyl, stick shift, 2WD, and 270k miles. I've been driving it since high school. Got it in 2013. It's been my daily driver since then!

Welcome!
My friend has an almost identical truck, '98 5spd with the 4 cylinder. Hers has been really reliable, they seem like really good trucks.
Have you had to do any major repairs on yours?

The transmission just went out after all these years. I found one on FB market for 300 bucks instead of trying to rebuild mine. I don't think I'm quite ready for that. Still got a lot to learn.

But besides that, I've replaced the alternator twice, the radiator sprung a leak, and a couple sensors here and there. My next project is the AC. It has never worked. I'm ashamed to admit that I tried just replacing the compressor several years ago and I didn't know what I was doing. I fixing the refrigerant leak by doing this but I didn't replace the dryer. Last week I looked at it for the first time in years and found the clutch coil was burned up.

All in all I've been satisfied with it. Very dependable. It had about 80k miles on it when I got it.

Also, can I use the Tapatalk app for this forum? The web version of this is a bit clumsy on my phone.

I've seen "Tap-A-Talk" on here before.

Give it a try and see what happens.

Looking good! I'm a big fan of flaresides and regular cabs. Maybe I am just oldschool, but so many newer trucks look like SUVs with little pickup beds on the back.
