I happened upon this site while looking for some information about doing a few things to my truck (88 Ranger custom 4wd).
I've always been a ranger fan, grew up driving a 86. Unfortunately that truck found itself being purchased by the insurance company after it caught on fire. Next up was an 84 with 4" suspension, 3" body, and 33" tires. Sadly, the guy that did it missed a few details and I couldn't get the thing to run in the summer until I had an extra core added to the radiator. Until I took it to a boat shop, the darned thing threw u-joints every other fill up. i digress.
anyway, i picked up an 88 about 10 years ago and have used it around the woods, but don't put enough "miles" on it to wear tires out before they rot. i average maybe 400 miles a year since most of it is in the woods...
Anyway, it's my old truck, and i'm thinking i need to get around to doing a couple things to it and lift it a bit, throw some slightly bigger tires (30" or 31"). the "33" tires i had on the 84 were just too much load for the motor. they were also insanely loud at 70mph.
Anyway, that was my overly long intro... now time to search the forums and see if it's possible to get cheap 17" wheels for this bad boy!
