Currently I own a sedan and need to get a truck.
Having owned a couple of different Rangers, '83 2.9 and a '88 2.3 and was happy enough with them that I would buy another one.
The 2.3 is the engine I want to be driving.
For 10 years I drove a '98 S10 2.2 and it treated me really well but had one flaw that bugged me, the third door. After 75K miles it wouldnt close correctly and caused the driver door to seal poorly as well, a continual pain in the butt for years.
Anyway, old Rangers are tough, economical little trucks and thats what appeals to me. I dont 4x4 off road but I do like the ability to roam Forest Service dirt roads looking for good campsites. My truck will be used as a part time (I cycle to work) commuter and general transpo machine.
I am looking forward to getting back into a truck, studying some DIY solutions and conversing with fellow Ranger owners.
