Not bad at all! once you start getting busy with the projects its going to be pretty sharp.

i see you also were gifted with the clusterfawk of stereo wires like i was. have fun getting that sorted.

haha yeah guy said he did some wiring in it i was like oooh greattttt.:annoyed: but yeah its pretty solid only thing is it doesnt turn over. its either he screwed up some connections to the starter solenoid or i need a new one. not sure yet. when i turn the key it clicks once but thats it. :dunno:

oh and that modified door mat was the carpet in the truck

Hmmmm...welcome to TRS...and I think by the looks of your Ranger you will be earning frequent flyer points on here quickly...

Just kidding...looks like my first one...that had to eventually be tanked due to rust...I'd suggest getting that under control first...especially in the firewall area....

haha yeah i started writing the laundry list for it. also does my firewall look rusty? or you just saying that it is usually a problem area?

ok so not 100% sure what is making this "bunk" sound under the hood. It happens when i turn the key to acc. right before i go to turn it all the way. It makes the "bunk" sound and thats it. i know its something on the right side pannel in the diagram here. i was thinking solenoid but i sounds more like its comeing from the EGR. any ideas?

Yeah, firewalls can be a problem...as well as the pillar on both doors where it meets the runner...this is actually caused by a design flaw related to the front drain...and the plate that backs the clutch/brake...mine rotted right out.

poke around with a screw driver...not too violently, mind you...lol...

I actually ended up closing the vent off completely on my first ranger, since all it does in allow the cold air intake vent to get fresh air...but this also fills up with slush, dead things, and is difficult to clean without a good power washer...

The design flaw that I found was the idea that this had to be opened in the first place...and the drip tray on both sides is cut...this allows the crud to slide down and lodge itself in the metal as opposed to being washed out completely...

A good spray washer might solve it if you are persistent and careful...

Have someone else turn the key while you listen...a mechanics stethescope might help...but it's probably the solenoid...

Haven't seen to many interior fabric doors!

nice truck!

Thanks for pointing that out...I haven't seen any...now I have something to look for...

To the OP...I just noticed there is a shot of your passenger door open...and the good news is I couldn't see any rust down at the bottom...and from what I can see of the firewall it looks clean...but give it a good look anyhow...

And did I mention oilings? LOL...my current cab was lovingly oiled by the first owner and is solid...but in Canada they use so much salt and other crap on the roads...the rust belt is a good name for this area...

do you want to get rid of the wooden cover on the dash by any chance?

Alright thanks for the input. ill go over it a little more tonight. and KIP as of right now im keeping the wood cause im going to work on all the main problems first but if i do get rid of it you will be first on my list.

Well fire wall is good! should I order a started solenoid from LMC? or you think like NAPA will have it?
Also anyone have a explorer 8.8 with 4.10 gears in it????

For your "bunk" eliminate all items that dont recieve power in Acc mode, since that is where you said it makes the noise. If it does it during the On position, that could be any number of things, but youll get your best info from a haynes or chiltons manual. Both well worth the money. Get your solenoid from the parts store, its just easier. Welcome to TRS
