New to the forums : should i buy this ranger?

yeah i really want a truck. and i want a manual. i drove an auto dodge neon ...well i still am, and i hate it. i want to manually shift and stuff it sounds better then auto. since most explorers are autos probably not. if i could get one for the right price..maybe. but i doubt it, since most explorers are autos.

oh so you do have a vehicle??

most def hold out and find a better deal....

I see a bottomless moneypit... I am going to vote walk.

Engine, springs, brakes, balljoints, TRE's... And if that is all it needs you still have a truck rusty enough that it has no rocker panel at all under the door.

Compile your "fix-r-upper fund with your fixin' fund" and get something that at least has some potential to be something when you get done.

I would personally far rather work on powertrain than bodywork...

4.0 b2 has an excellent point a 92 up with the 4.0 has a better drivetrain. So you don't wind up changing the whole drivetrain like us B2 people wind up doing.

don't get me wrong.. i love my 88 b2 w/ an explorer drivetrain.. i like it more than i would an explorer. :D

it's my dads car and i drive it at the moment. that or a 04 dodge ram 2500. and my fund is all 1 thing. about 1k so say i pay..600 for the truck. i have 400 to get it home and to make the most needed repairs.

my fund is ABOUT 1K because i'm selling my old truck ( bad trans) to hopefully get something that will actually move and not get 10 mpg.

/e : and i'm not really caring about the drive train because if i feel i need more power i'd just put a 302 in it when i actually have a steady job after high school.

Walk away from that one man...don't let that money burn a hole in your pocket! Since you have a car, there's no sense in wasting money on that truck.

i don't have the money yet! it's burning and it's not even there... :shok:
just looking around craigslist and this is about the best one i've seen for my price. well one of the only ones i've seen. i don't want a 2wd and i don't want an auto either.

Just putting a 302 in isn't a small undertaking, you need a truck that is worth doing it to, IMHO a rustbucket isn't worth the investment of both time and money.

If you don't want an Explorer (I wouldn't) a 4.0 Ranger will have the same everything aside from the rear axle... and it doesn't come with a really terrible axle either.

yeah i know if i were to put another engine in it i'd fix up the body/replace some stuff before i would do that. i emailed the guy and he's pretty nice. he's in high school as well and i can understand him not wanting to go too low. it's 700 now though. but still looking, haven't sold my truck yet i just get emails of people asking to look at it and when i give them my dads phone number to setup a time he never gets a call ( that or he just ignores it, lol!)

If you are that poor and only have $1000 to spend, use public transportation. That POS will end up costing thousands upon thousands.

I know waiting sucks, keep looking and make more money and you will find a better deal. 2k can buy a decent higher mileage 4x4 ranger.......As you have seen by other people on the forum its all about looking around and waiting for the right deal.

...I Don't have a job just yet and it's the money i'm getting from a truck i basically got for free. and i have nothing else saved up. PLUS I live in the middle of no where, i drive 12 miles to school, leave at 10am, head to my 2nd part of school which is 20 miles then come back home which is another 12 times. ( estimated)

i don't live in the school district i go to and my first part of school is a vocational class ( aircraft mechanic) and they don't provide busing to that anyways.

poor isn't really the way to word my situation. i don't live in a rich family and having family problems so i gotta buy my own stuff!

man if you want the truck... buy it. simple as that.
maybe you'll get lucky...or maybe we'll be right. who knows.
