Hello all! I am not new to Bronco IIs, Explorers or Rangers, having owned 3 (now 4) Bronco IIs, 1 Explorer, and 2 Rangers over the years. I have just purchased my most recent BII, an 84, after kicking myself for years about selling my last 1990 when it's motor died. when I got bit by the bug to get one again, I started doing research into modification options, which of course lead me here. I have spent the last week or so reading all kinds of info on here.

I will definitely be looking to do an engine swap and I know the 4 most common swaps are 4.0, 5.0 Explorer, 302, and the 4bt Turbo diesel. I am undecided which way to go as yet, and may solicit opinions and thoughts from more experienced folks, in another thread if need be.

It is intended as a daily driver primarily, but with the possibility of doing some fun stuff on the weekends, etc. My commute is roughly 100 miles a day between school and work.

I am an Army vet, have started going to school full time to get my associates in Automotive Technology, and work full time in a factory as a maintenance tech. Thanks for the awesome site and I look forward to learning from all of you!

Welcome to trs. It's great to see another person from IN on here.

Welcome! If I where you and drove 100 miles a day I would keep the engine you have, throw a lift kit under it and hammer down. bII's wheel pritty good with a simple lift. If your a gear head like most of us on her. Strait axle it and through a 5.0 in.

Thanks for the welcomes, gentlemen.

Right now I am planning on replacing the window seals, adding a 4 or 6 inch lift (might do a 2-3 inch body as well, especially if I decide on an engine swap to add some room), brush guard and some lights, custom bumpers front and rear, CB, some real tires, and still going back and forth on the engine swap.

The truck only has 106,000 on it, which is good for an 84 (I think), but the truck just feels gutless. It does have the C5 tranny. I suppose I could go through it all and might do a duraspark conversion on it.

Here's what she looks like when I went to pick her up. I think it's a very good starting point for some mods:
