Just bought a high mileage 02 ranger xlt 5speed. Was originally bought by for technician new and he did all service until he retired. A few years back he babe it to his kid amd moved out of state. I put a clutch in it for them this summer and it was a daily work car. It stayed having power loss issues, they took out to a local shop who said it needed an intake because it was cracked and the would have to special order from Ford directly. They decided to scrap it so I offered $200 and they took it. No crack found on intake but did find bad 02 sensor and MAF. Just replaced both and it's s great running 2.3 with 223k miles for dirty cheap.
I offered them to buy it back for what i paid and they passed. I was told their dad was happy someone bought it with intent to fix and they to keep it for sure.
Rangers always hold a special place for me since I was a kid and my grandfather drove an 83 xlt. I knew he was home from OTR trucking when it was in the driveway. He gave it to me as my first car. In glad to have another ranger after all these years.
Looking forward to finding good info here and keeping this truck running for a long time.
