Anyone else seen these? I was telling my mechanic now working on my '02 Ranger to replace the factory hose clamps with geared hose clamps. He then showed, to me, a new style of stainless steel geared hose clamp. They are made with a ridged inner liner that keeps the gear from eating into the hose. The inner ridge assures a tight seal.

Just looking around the web, I don't see these offered.

Pic or link?
I use a bolt style clamp. They are pricy but don't strip out. I'll try to find a pic of mine...

Spring clamps should be sufficient on most things, they supply a constant pressure so when the hose collapses over time they don't loosen up. My '90 has some original spring clamps on the radiator hoses and no issues. Cheap screw clamps suck, the small #2 and #6 sizes that normally have 1/4" or 6mm hex always strip out if over tightened or used too many times. The best screw clamps were made by the "Ideal" company which I believe went out of business as we haven't been able to get them at work in a few years... I don't remember what we are using now but they seem to be working decent (we use a LOT of hose clamps, marine engines have coolant and water going everywhere...).

The T bolt clamps are good, they put on a lot of pressure but are not very forgiving on diameters, some times two clamps rated 1/4" apart in diameter one will bottom out and not be tight enough and the bigger one the nut won't start but that is more on the large ones like for 4" marine exhaust hose...

Looks a lot like what on the puke line on the ranger I have. Seems like it might make a better seal than the old timey clamps and worm rigs.

They strip out eventually. We have clamps similar to those for our refuel and air refueling manifolds in the tankers. Granted, they are probably about 60 years old now....

Oh damn, I'll have to come back from the grave to check on them....lol.

I've noticed this too. I will put a shim in. Cut from vinyl or aluminum flat stock.

Yeah, Ford uses those on some of the CAC tubing on the Ecoboosts.
