New spark plug wires

Bought a kit with new spark plug wires, distributer cap, and rotor. The kit has 8 wires in it, while there's only 7 spots on the old and new distributers. Am I missing something?

its prob for the different ends on the coil. the ends will be different. Will also be that set of wires fits a lot of different trucks or cars

Or it could be length of wires, in generic v6 applications distributor placement can vary as can coil placement

In the kit I got there was a short & long coil wire. I needed the long to get to the coil on the fender well. Some must have the coil near the distributer.
