I just got a new slave cylinder from autozone for an 1989 ranger. it has a
'new and upgraded" fluid line fitting. Instead of the inner fingers that the male clutch line snaps into; it has a removable clip fitted into slots on the side. you push the line in until it snaps past the clip and that's what holds it in place. to remove the fluid line, you pull the clip and it comes right out. It all looks and sounds pretty good, but is it? does anyone have any experience with these fittings? I would appreciate some input before I go ahead and stab this tranny.

Pretty solid as it has been in use for about 10million Rangers since yours was made.

i think the original design is better than the "new and improved" version, i put in a new slave about 2 years ago, a year later (about a year ago) it popped apart while driving in town, had to repair in a parking lot, turned the clip around and so far its held. im not impressed with the new design, if you can get a original style coupling, i would recomend it.
