I have a dark green 98 Ford Ranger regular cab. I am in need of some new tires and I was thinking about getting some new rims while I'm at it. I use my truck as a daily driver and I use it alot for hauling stuff for work and around the house. I am looking at getting a set of black steel rims like the Uniques or some American Racing wheels. I noticed that both of them are common in the 15x7 and 15x8 so I was just curious which one would be better for me? I am going towards the more aggressive look on my truck...getting a black diamond plate tool box with the bed rail gaurds and maybe a brush gaurd...so I was thinking about getting some beefier tires to go on my new rims...any input on this subject would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys

crank your keys and wrap some 33" BFG all terrains around a nice set of black soft 8s.

a wheel. I got some.

Cragar Soft 8's Their black with 8 holes. Summit jegs 4wheel parts sells them. 62.99 a peice a summit for 15x10's

If your staying with stock size (235/75/15?), you certainly don't want to go wider than 8" and I'd recommend 7". You can put 31/10.50/15 on 7" or 8" with no problem - many Rangers are factory supplied with that size tire and I've done it for years with 8" rims. 10" rims on a stock truck usually causes problems because the large offset swings the outboard side of the tire in a much larger arc, interferring with sheetmetal. One can find 10" wheels with little offset (see my pic) and create a beefier look (and work better in soft sand, etc.) while not cutting the fenders. A little twist on the torsion bars help too, but subject for another day.

that sounds good...whats a soft 8? lol

my favorite kind of wheel that i have yet to get my hands on.

yea i would go with the 8in wide wheel it gives you the option of getting bigger tires in the future

I like D slots better, pretty much the same concept but has D shaped slots instead of plain round holes.

Looks better to me... for a black wheel.

ok, going with the 8" cragars...now. what tire to wrap around them?

i want an aggressive looking tire thats not too knobby so it will be good for my daily driving...anything come to mind?

Yes, the Goodyear Duratrac.

Got a set on the Cherokee and they are fantastic, some days i wish I had got those over my MT/R's, especially after I cut up my fenders to stop the rubbing:Icon_rofl:

Here's what they look like on a 15x8 Dick Cepek imitation rim.

Mickey thompson baja claw radials. One of the best tires ever.

rim size......

im putting 35x12.50 tires on my truck and need to put new rims on it. My rims are stock 15x7 from ford. I was looking at 15x10 for the new tires since they are bigger than my 33x10.50. The backspacing is 4" and the offset is -38mm. Do you think that the rim will stick out way to far from the truck?
