I got myself a new-to-me ride this week since I sold my '05 Ranger.

I picked up a '96 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Club Cab. What makes this nicer than my Ranger is it is paid for.

The only thing wrong with it is the common rust on the bottom of the drivers door and the rear bumper where it was pushed into the bed.

The transmission was rebuilt about 50,000 miles ago by a VERY well known shop in my area. They put a nice shift kit in it and added a large external transmission cooler. It shifts hard and runs good.

I had to put new tires on it as well, so I went with a 265/75/16 BFG All-Terrain.

Specs:
- 1996 Dodge Ram Club Cab SLT Laramie
- 4x4
- 5.9L (360 cu.in.) V8
- Automatic Transmission

Nice ride Jones!
A new rug and the interior whould look sweet!

I always liked how those Dodges looked, but I don't think I'd ever settle for a gas engine in one.

You may wanna check out the floorboards under those seat mounts though, that looks like some heavy rust right around those bolts.

The carpet is getting replaced by vinal mat. I despise carpet in a truck.

The floor boards are solid. I was under the carpet last night and under the truck today. I was surprised the floor boards were not rotted.

looks good, but the gas mileage isnt gunna be fun

I don't care about gas milage. I have a company truck so I don't drive this much at all. That is one of the main reasons I sold the Ranger. I didn't like paying for something I hardly drove.

Headers and dual exhaust. my buddies step dad has one and it sounds mean with the duals.

That is a clean truck for that many miles. Nice find.

I had the 5.9 in my 00 Durango. Pulling anything was not a issue. What is up after the carpet gets pulled out?

Ah, the carpet is a lower issue that I am going to fix.

This is the order I am doing things to it.

1. Factory fog lights (in the hunt now)
2. Add transmission temp gauge with a column gauge mount
3. Fix rust and Line-X lower silver portion
4. Dual exhaust with Stainless sorty headers and single in dual out Flowmaster
5. Carpet replaced with vynal mat

Other than that above, I am going to be fixing things here and there on it that needs attention. For instance, both license plate light sockets were burnt. No auto parts places didn't have aftermarket replacements so I ordered replacements that I wouldn't have to splice in from the local dealership. They were not as bad as I was expecting at $14 each.

I gave her a good cleaning last Sunday including a good wax job. It was amazing how much better the paint looked after it had a good wax on it. It was actually shiny showing its metal flake instead of looking dull.

Glad to hear you like it. I loved my Durango but the mileage was KILLING me. 13-15 mpg any where I went. Oh well. I think I got a good deal on it though.

Yea, the mileage in this thing sucks. However, I don't have to drive it every day.

I have ran 1 full tank through it and I got 9.13 MPG on that tank. That was mainly tooling around town.

Yeah that sounds about right.

gas mileage is definately low on your priority list w/ ttose. i had a 99 durango w/ the 5.2 that got 9mpg city. the highest i got was 15mpg on a trip from here in san diego up to los angeles. the thing hauled ass and would tow almost anything you could throw at it though
