I just picked up my new ride today! 96 Ranger XLT 3.0 standard cab with a MANSTICK and a Pussamatic switch on the dash. This little gem has 200000+ miles on it and she doesn’t even have the slightest hint of a lifter tic!
This isn’t my first Ranger “Littleblue” an “88” 2.9 Ranger XLT 2WD. I bought her in 2001 for $1500 Sadly though Littleblue died outside of Amarillo Texas
The tranny froze or should I say it locked into fourth gear while pulling a trailer full of my stuff from Missouri to California. “Littleblue” had somewhere around 300000+miles on her without a motor rebuild, tyranny swap or rear end swap.
I miss that little truck….. I taught my son Jacob how to drive a stick shift on the back roads of Missouri. I’m looking forward to having my son Jacob driving this “96” Ranger.

The "lifter tick" generally comes with the 4.0 not the 3.0.
