Good evening all, I am a new member to the Ranger Station forum. I have a bone stock one owner 2010 Ranger 2WD 4 Door 4.0L with about 98K miles. I have big plans for my truck and I'm glad I have a place to ask questions now 😂. As of now, I just have been doing maintenance since I bought it, but I recently found some Mustang Wheels and Tires from Marketplace.

Welcome to the site.

Clean machine. Have fun....

I'm newer than you, but welcome!

Welcome to the Herd!
Lots of friendly knowledgable folk in these forums.
Clean good looking machine you've got there; coming up on 100kMiles on that V6~4.0L~SOHC Engine,
so be sure to renew those 2 notorious OilPressurized TimingTensioners, if not already done recently.

Not to hijack his thread, but are those the issue where people are telling me the 4.0 has a shorter lifespan than the 3.0? I have heard that for years from both friends and some Ford techs I know very well. I just never asked why. The techs basically said it's a trade off. More power for a shorter time, or less power for a longer time.

Ok, back to our welcoming party!

Every make model vehicle engine has its quirks weaknesses. Its really a matter of being aware of those & specific maintenance+upgrades to make any vehicle last longer than most. Abuse+Neglect will make anything+anyone die young.

welcome to the club!

Thanks for the welcome. I will be sure to look into this, I didn't know these were a failure point on the 4.0 .

Nothing in there about tickle its belly??
I'm fairly happy with my 4.0, It doesn't have the chains but it has about everything else.
Had 230,000 miles when bought in late 2006, and the first thing it needed after emissions was a slave cylinder but I fairly well renewed the entire clutch apparatus.
Then began a 600 mile move with a loaded truck and loaded trailer. Made 4 round trips over the next few months, shoulda made one more but got tired.
I didn't realize the 5th gear overdrive wasn't intended to work too hard but I kept it at about 75 the entire time.
It's needed one slave cylinder since but that's it, and a starter, and an alternator.
Now I have a supply of each through local wrecking yard sales.

Now it is at 368.000 miles, and I'm getting ready to swap it for a while and give it a much needed rest and recuperation, but it'll be back, better than ever :)

I don't know what you will face with your motor, or if you do your own work on it or not, but either way you have a great vehicle, and I wish you the best with it :)

Thanks for the info, only thing that has given me trouble is the fuel filter but I did oil and I’m doing full brakes now. And to set the record straight I do have a 4.0 SOHC 🤣
