Hey guys!
just a brief intro, I’m Z -1994 ranger XLT 2.3 5 spd ex cab. New to these little guys, but I’m well versed with vehicles and trucks. I hope you all can teach me something new, and hopefully help me build this ranger, hope to meet everyone here!

Thanks !

Welcome to the forum

You have the last of the 1989-1994 2.3l Lima with 60-wire EEC-IV computer and hall effect sensor
Also has external spark module, an ICM, on front of lower intake

, 1995-2001 2.3l/2.5l used 104 wire computer with internal spark module and VR sensor
So no swapping engines between these years, just in case it comes up

2.3l SOHC Lima engine was around from 1974 to 2001, also know as Pinto engine as that was what it was first used in, 1974 Pinto
Very solid and reliable engine, or Ford would have dropped it, lol

It is a non-interference engine and uses a timing belt, this needs to be changed at 80-90k miles but won't hurt engine if it breaks

You have an M5OD-R1(M5R1) 5-speed transmission, also very reliable, it uses ATF, yes automatic transmission fluid in a manual transmission, do NOT use gear oil

You have the next generation body style, 1993-1997, but pretty much the same as 1998-2011 bodys

Welcome. In my opinion, you have one of the best model year and drivetrain combinations. Check out the Tech section, and any questions just fire away.

Greatly appreciated.

Thank you for that info, I wish I got that intro on all the forums I’ve been a part of! Talk about save time on searching for the main stuff. Greatly appreciated friend.
