I have a couple of tech questions and hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction. I have been an active member of several other forums for a long time and I know that when you are looking for answers the more info you provide in your questions, the better your answers are. So I will try to give as much info as I can.
I just recently bought a 94 B4000 ext 4x4 w/manual tranny. When I bought it, it needed a clutch and brakes. Other than that the truck ran great and had tons of power. I decided to put a new clutch in. When I pulled the tranny I noticed excessive play in the output shaft and I figured since the truck has such high mileage (250k) I figured I would rebuild the tranny while it was out. I put everything back together, drove it around for 2 days and it was great. Perfect shifting, great driving, and again, tons of power.
On the 3rd day I drove it to work and after 15 min on the highway my check engine light came on for a bout 2 min and then went off. It did not come back on until 2 days later and again while on the interstate after about 15 min. This time however the engine started to lag and barely had any power at all. I parked the truck and the next morning it ran fine (tons of power). No check engine light until later that evening and again severe power loss. I stopped by my local auto zone to have the codes read and this is where it gets strange. I figured it would be something like the MAF sensor or maybe even ignition related. Here are the codes that were pulled:
522 - MLP circuit open vehicle in gear ?????
176 bank 2 lean - pretty sure this means O2 sensor
177 bank 2 rich - pretty sure this means O2 sensor
542 fuel pump circuit open PCM to Motor ?????
I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. I don't know that the codes and the intermittent power loss are related or if they are just a strange coincidence.
One minute this truck runs like a scalded ape and the next it barely creeps down the road. Any assistance is much appreciated.
One more thing. I pulled the MAF sensor and cleaned it (looked spotless but I cleaned it anyway)and ther was no change in performance.
