I'd give it a 50/50 chance on manual or auto 4x4. 93's weren't overly electronic like modern ones, but it was starting to move that way.
As for the 3.0, they aren't bad engines. Most of the people who bash them are either 2.9 or 4.0 owners, and the sad truth of it is that liter per liter the Vulcan just doesn't stack up against the Colognes. It's mostly in the piston angle and valving though. The 2.9 and 4.0 make their peak power fairly low in the RPM range, about 1500 RPM which is a good thing in a truck engine. The 3.0 by comparison makes peak power and efficiency up above 2000 RPM, which makes it a good quick engine, but not as good at starting off heavy loads.
If you want this truck for a grocery getter and hauling light loads, wood, lawn mower, helping friends move, etc the 3.0 is just fine. If you want to try and use it like I do, which is to say doing things that should really be getting done with an F-150, the 3.0 isn't as good a choice.
