I'm looking for some feed back on this one. I just bought a 4cyl 07 Ranger.
Because of the little engine will these pickups handle a some beefy tires okay without losing gas milage or power? I know it can be done of course, but I bought the truck for transportation but wanted to increase the looks.

If you swap the rearend gear ratio to something deeper, you'll get back most of your performance lost to the bigger tires.

What size tires you planning on?

just change your gear ratio and you should be fine just as long as you don't go huge.

I'm running 29x8.5 TSL's on my '06, and it's not too bad at all, performance-wise. I did lose about 2-3 mpg after changing tires, though. I'll probably end up going with some tall/skinny 235's that are about 1/2" taller and a few lbs lighter in hopes of getting some of the lost fuel economy back. Also, I don't expect the TSL's to be safe enough come winter time. As a general rule, 30x9.5r15 or 265/70r15 is the biggest you can go without rubbing without a lift. Some people have ran 31x10.5r15's without rubbing (allegedly).

In my opinion, big tires and small engines dont go good together. As from my knowlege of jeeps and 4cyl., the only ways to keep good mpgs with larger tires is to go with lower gears, and possibly add aftermarket parts to the motor.
