New to ranger fourums, I have been a visitor for a year.

Got this 1988 (2.9L) from a relative last year who purchased new in 88'. I did a short test drive back then, it was not registerd, I am working on restoring it, it is in good shape no-rust western truck, it has ~250k miles on it. xfer case was rebuilt (what ever that means) about 10 years ago.

I drained the the xfer case and it had gear lube or motor oil in it, not ATF. (in the process of pulling the engine & refreshing the drive train) I have no idea how long it had gear lube. Xfer case was shifting properly and made no noise on short test drive.
Any ideas on impact to the internals?
Should I rebuild it or replace?

By the way compression test results warm: 1 & 2= 155; 3,4,5 =160 ; 6=165
(I don't want to do a V8 conversion, to many other changes invovled)

Comments?

Transfer case. I'd drain the ATF and refill one more time with More ATF to flush out any leftover gear oil. If its working fine just do that last flush and leave it.
