How's it going? I just bought a 2004 Mazda B2300 manual real cheap as a work truck to save gas; my Ram Rumble Bee wasn't cutting it. Anyways, mechanical they are the same as a Ranger minus body parts, exterior trim pieces, and lights correct? It has 189,XXX miles on it with no rust except typical surface rust on the frame. I actually like it a lot after driving it a week and think I may want to keep it and drive it for as long as I can. Any tips on what I should be looking to replace to keep it going and gain some mpg's? Previous owner just replaced the spark plugs, wires, new stock exhaust, and supposedly new injectors. It also has new tires on it too, stock size besides being 235's instead of 225's. I went out today to start it for work and it wouldn't start, I'm going to investigate that issue a little farther when I get home tonight. Anyways, I hope I learn a lot while I'm here.

Howdy and welcome to TRS~!

No starts can be caused by a number of things and we usually need more information to be able to help. Things like does the engine turn over but not fire...does the starter just click and stop working...did you test the battery voltage...did you leave something on like the stereo or do you sit in the truck with the engine off and play music...

Stuff like that helps us to give you a more specific diagnosis and can save you tons of money...

Try not to get into the habit of throwing parts at your Ranger...they are great trucks and the 2.3 engine (Duratech in your case not Lima) is a very reliable engine that should last you another couple of hundred thousand miles with regular maintenance and an eye for possible problems.

There is a forum for your engine below that probably answers your questions better than the introduction section (here) and I would suggest reading through some of the posts that are titled similarly "no start" or "starter clicks but does not turn engine"...

But by all means ask questions and post in the appropriate section and you will be rewarded with answers that get you up and running faster than not asking...
