Thanks in advance to anyone who responds to this post. I've recently purchased an '08 3.0 V6 Ranger. When I rev the engine in park, it sounds and feels like I'm letting off and back on the gas, even if I keep the throttle down.

Also, while in gear there is a noticeable 'click' heard every minute or two. Nothing major, just sounds like if you were to tap the engine case with a screwdriver.

Should I be concerned? Or are this normal issues attributed with the 3L Ranger?

there is a rev limiter that stops the engine from over revving while the trans. is in park and causing harm to the motor. dont rev in park, its unnecissary.

the click could be about a million different things...chances are its nothing to worry about.

congrats on purchasing one of the most reliable engines ever to grace the engine compartment of a ranger...dont sweat the small stuff :derisive:

yeah, cuz it's all small stuff ;missingteeth;
