I don't expect to use a truck a lot so I purchased a one owner 2005 Ranger STX 2wd standard cab with 217K miles. Before I purchased it I scanned the codes and found P0300, P0304, and P0316 codes. I pulled the #4 spark plug and the center electrode was burnt away and the gap was around 1/8". I thought a tune-up would be an easy fix so I purchased the truck. Changing the plugs revealed the other two on that side were burnt away. The plugs on the other side weren't burnt away as bad. The truck still misses a little. The old #4 plug has rust on the connector so I ordered plug wires from Rockauto. While waiting for the wires, I found this site and TSB 05-26-3, now I am concerned that plugs and wires may not fix the problem. When the wires arrive I will start the diagnostics.

Is this a waste spark system? Ensure you have the right plugs.

The coil is a standard six-wire system and the old plugs were Motorcraft AGSF32FM and the specs call for AGSF22FM. I installed the correct plugs for the 3l V6.
