So I'm having some issues with my trans. I know for sure it's time for a clutch, throwout bearing and pilot bearing but there's a whining coming only from a few gears (okay most gears) that I can't quite place. I flushed the trans and filled er back up two days ago and the whining continues.

The trans whines in 1, 2, 3, 5, and reverse. 4 is the only quiet gear. I dropped the pan to see if there were any shavings or unusual wear and everything looks straight in there. Any ideas?

Thanks fellas

What fluid did you fill it with?

Well, that might not be the only problem, but it is still one of your problems. The mitsubishi transmissions need gear oil. I don't remember exactly what's specced, but I'm at work or I'd look it up for you.

Is it 80/90? I had that in there and it was whining still so I was told go with the Dex merc or mercon v

Drained and refilled with 80-90 and drove it around the neighborhood today. Still screaming in 1 2 3 5 and reverse. If I'm not mistaken, 4th runs strictly off engine speed? Which would explain why there's no whining in that gear. I'm thinking input shaft bearing? Can anyone confirm this?
