Hey, I'm about to start my journey with a 1992 XLT, auto with 3.73s and 119K KMs.

It's had bodywork and the interior is crazy mint...gotta fix a few little issues to fix on it; crappy brakes, whole exhaust is rotten including the manifolds (I'd LOVE to hear any experiences/tips on removing the manifolds), various engine and transmission leaks.

It'll be a weekend warrior, 80/20 wheeler/camper. The plan is for a mild build; trans cooler, bumper, winch, 33's, 5.5" lift if I can find one, or if not a 4"
 
Sounds like a plan. Welcome to TRS. I hate to say it, but I would be no help in removing the manifold. But sounds like a cool project. I look forward to seeing the progress. You can start a build thread to help document your progress. Oh and we like pictures haha. Welcome again. I'm sure somebody smarter than me will be by to help with your technical questions. You can always browse the tech section for information as well.
 
To get more specific help knowing which of the 3 V6's that were available that year would help, there was a 2 year overlap where the 2.9L and 3L were offered at the same time, you said plural manifolds so I imagine not the 2.3L :).

I'm not much help, it's been 15 years since I've had a V6 explorer that I'd worked on and I don't have to deal with rust at all so yeah..
