inherited 2004 reg cab 3.0 stepside 2wd from 93 yr old dad thanks pap will be on here for advice had a 95ranger new yrs ago switched to toyota tacoma iam a mechanic retired come here to see the ins and outs on rangers problems what to watch out for thanks
 
welcome! your truck is similar to mine and another guy. its a great truck and i love mine. mine is an 05 3.0 stepside single cab 2wd with 5 speed.

there are not really any particular issues with your truck, as its optioned. people will complain that the 3.0 is crap but i love mine. its fun to drive and gets good gas mileage. its never left me stranded anywhere and mines got over 200k on it.

mostly just regular maintenance stuff.
I would recommend taking the sensor off the cam sync unit and adding a few drops of oil to the shaft.
the top bushing tends to dry out.
