Hey guys, I just bought my ranger. I picked up a 94 XLT with 4x4, 4.0L, toolbox, and 31 inch tires for $2300. And it only has 102,xxx miles!!! I'm really looking to turn this into a mudding truck to run around my buddies with. The 302 swap looks very intriguing to me. Any advice on what I can do to make this a good mudding truck, let me know!

well if your from king county I suggest avoiding a 302 swap until it is over 25 yrs old. unless you plan to make it strickly a wheeling machine. other than that nice truck and welcome aboard. you can still lift it and such but the emissions Nazis will make it hard to pass an emissions test with a 302.

Welcome...nice little truck...I think you will find the 4.0 is pretty adequate for off road use...just because you got a good deal on it doesn't mean it isn't worthy...unless the motor is wonky I'd keep it and enjoy the extra money to spend on something else or build up a bit of cash for those lean times when you have to actually eat the fish you catch...lol
