Hello All,
I recently picked up a 2006 XL 2wd, 2.3L, 5 Speed, Regular Cab on eBay. I really like the truck and I'm glad there is a resource like this. Despite how stripped this truck is, it is a step up for me. For the last 10 months I'd been doing a car free experiment where I sold the family's 2nd car and used a motorcycle for commuting and all other 2nd car duty. It was nice to drive to the commuter lot last week on a cold rainy morning in the dry heated cab of the Ranger.
I picked up an OEM Bed Extender on craigslist today and am scratching my head on the installation. The stud/post that should attach to the interior of the bed is threaded and the hole that it should thread in to is not threaded. I read on another forum where someone suggested using the post to tap the threads into the insert of the truck bed. Does anyone else have any experience with this situation? Did you use the threaded post to tap threads or did you buy a tap to cut the threads? I'd hate to ruin these inserts that are welded to the interior of the bed.
