Hey new member here and just making my introduction.
Backstory:
Just bought my very first Ford Ranger a couple weeks ago to DD and take into the deer woods. It's a 1990 XLT Supercab with 4.0L v6 and A4LD 4x4 w/3" body lift and 31's. I only paid $1200 for it as is. PO said OD was out in the transmission but the truck came with a good spare transmission (hit or miss on that) it also has a slight valve tick(i hear it's common in the 4.0). I have a few plans set out for this truck so I'll be searching and asking several questions for the time to come. So far my main plan is to fix the fuel gauge as it always reads empty when the truck is on. My next plan is to engine oil treat before I do a oil change and hopefully remove/silence the tick. Then I plan on "building up" the spare transmission and try to extend the life of these weak A4LD trannies, the truck does actually have a working OD I just have to manually shift into it once i get up to speed in D and downshift with reduction of speed so the spare build doesn't have a huge time crunch. Next will come rear mustang disc brakes and 95-97 dual piston ranger calipers to help the squishy brakes it currently has. I'll drive it as is but may throw a 4" suspension lift to hopefully clear 33's before doing a full 302 swap on full width D44/9" axles.
