I stumbled upon the forum while doing a search for '99 locking hub fix. I found it to be much more professional and informative than some of the other forums I've seen, so joined.
I bought my truck 2 years ago ('99 4x4, 4.0 automatic, xtended cab) with 189,000 miles on it (after dumping my '01 Nissan Frontier due to mechanical issues), picking up a '78 F350 1ton for work. I've replaced the heads, radiator, alternator, battery, exhaust (upgrade), shocks (KYB), rebuilt the auto-trans and am now replacing the non-functioning, locking hubs with the AVMs. I have a CAI to install, as well. I now have 204,000 miles on it.
I'm having to deal with multiple electronic issues, but nothing too severe. No reverse lights, ABS, etc. Overall, I'm happy with the truck and plan on keeping it for quite a while, doing additional upgrades.
