So I got a limited slip yesterday and I put it in last night. I still need to adds some friction modifier but other then that I am good. I was a little worried I might screw something up since I have never done a rear diff before. I have put maybe 20 miles on and have had no issues. It seems to be working like it should too. Now I need to wait for the snow to melt to go play.

Well, there are lots of ways to screw up a differential install, but if it lasted 20 miles, it's quite likely to last for a very long time. It's not nearly as risky as a gearset install, though.

If you aren't having problems with clutch chatter or dragging the wheels around corners, don't bother with friction modifier (that's what it's for). Often, a good synthetic GL-5 hypoid gear lube by itself is enough.

Do test the breakaway torque, and change your gear oil soon (after break-in). You'll get a fair amount of fresh grit from breaking in the clutches. Inspect the wear pattern on the ring gear when you do (even if reusing a gearset).

As long as you reset (or at least checked) the backlash, you should be fine with a differential-only install. Changing the differential does not affect pinion depth.

Yeah there aren't even any weird noises. I have a road trip in a week and a half, only a hundred miles. I think I will take the cover off and recheck everything.

did you install a lock-right? was it fairly easy? i'm wanting to do a lock-right in mine soon so that's why i ask
