i just got a new msi netbook i need a virus protection i have heard good things about spybot, any on else have good ones?

AVG, Avast, Malwarebytes, CCleaner, Cleanup452 (these last 2 are just cleanup programs to get rid of junk files, not anti-virus programs)
Google them, they're all free. If you buy anti-virus, you are just wasting money. If you have Norton on your computer and you aren't under a corporate umbrella that forces you to use it, go out and slam your junk in the truck door as punishment for being a moron.

I dont know a ton about this stuff. I get my internet thru comcast and you download mcafee for free from them.

Yo,
Of all the ones I have used, I like Avira or Spybot. They tend to hog the least amount of resources and still provide excellent protection.

I bought a new Compaq in 1998 (I think), quickly got tired of being interrupted and bullied by McAfee, downloaded Avast and have always used them. Never had a virus infection, they don't pop up and scare the shit out of you with dire threats.

I also keep Spybot S&D running.

That's it.

I would go with the Avast home edition that is free as well. I have it installed on all of my computers that are running windows, and when I work on somebodies computer I install Avast if they have no antivirus or expired antivirus. Seems to work great. The one thing I do disable is the 'virus database has been updated' message over the speakers.

windows live one care works for me it don`t slow my computer like all the others I tried are you running windows

SuperAntiSpyWare and MalwareBytes only remove bugs, they don't prevent them, at least not the free versions.

Microsoft Security Essentials should do all you need, throw in some Free AVG if you're not 100% comfortable with it.

I run McAfee VirusScan and AntiSpyware Enterprise, and SpyBot S&D. That's it. Never a problem.

I am a fan of free avast and spy bot search and destroy, c cleaner, and disk defrag.
