I'm so excited about this I have to tell people, I just finished my first year of Millwright (entry level) at a local college a couple of weeks ago, today I dropped of a resume to a company who I had to hunt down the location for (otherwise I would have just emailed, which I avoid doing). An hour after talking to the guy he phoned me up and asked when I could start!

I'm officially a 2nd year Millwright apprentice, im so excited, everyone seemed real nice in the shop, 15 minutes from home, double time for O/T, $20 an hour regular wage! I'm going to be installing machinery, the company specializes in conveyors but will take any contract. I get to travel around my city in the company truck between jobsites :headbang::headbang::headbang:

Now to go pick up some :beer: for everyone there tomorrow. 20 years old, a bit later start on this than I would have hoped for, but I can't complain. I see a new ranger in my future

Well you lucky bastard. But seriously, congratulations. You landed a great opportunity, just don't waste it. Also 20 isn't anywhere near a late age for something like that. I'm 20 and far from anything like that yet.

sweet deal, when i go full time at General Electric (im through a temp agency right now but 12.50 isnt bad either) i'll be making 21/hr and they LOVE weekend overtime, 1.5 time on saturday, double on sunday. they tell me ill go full time in the near future but i know not right now since ive been there 2.5 weeks lol. and like you, im only 20 and i have 4 classes left for my associates degree in machine tool technology. work is close by, its about 2.5 miles away from my apartment. congrats!!

Thanks for comments, I'm definately not planning on messing up this chance. For anyone considering jobs for the future, I recommend the entry level training courses in college (up here, they count as a equivilant of finishing 1st year apprenticeship without needing the sponsor, or the hours!). My course was only 6 months long, and I had a great time doing it.

Congratulations, and good luck with the new job!

the job...

Congratulations! Now you can really kick it in high gear!

First day done, I like my new job, and I got along with the people there really well. Looking forward to working with them for the next (hopefully) long while!
