Well, I went in for an interview for a service tech position at my nearest Lexus dealership, and pending a drug/driving test, I begin training next saturday!

I'm pretty excited to have something to look forward to immediately out of college. :woot:

Sweet dude! That's awesome. I just started school. Associates in automotive technology. Hopefully I can snatch a job right out of school. The place I'm going to has the Ford MLR program.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty excited.

Ranger44, do you get special training at a dealership or something if you enter the Ford MLR program? How does it work?

My college is actually considering my training as a credit (even though I'm studying politics), which is awesome.

I applied to work at my local Ford dealership (Wall's) as well, but they weren't hiring unfortunately. I'd rather work on Fords since they're what I grew up with and enjoy working on, but hey, Lexus isn't too bad either. The pay and benefits are pretty good too.

most definitely, sorry for confusion. Only a weak joke implying you are on the pipe.

Haha, that's what I thought. Not your fault, its so damn hard to tell over the net.

I actually came back to my campus house and joked with my roomies that I'd have to lay off the crack for a while...

Our school was excepted into the MLR program. We take the online tests on steering/suspension, brakes, transmissions, and there is one more class I can't remember. Once we pass the coarses, we are certified. Our names are stored in the ford database till dooms day. It's kinda a free-bee.

I have to say that I have never had to take a drug test to get a job!

Cool. Good luck man!

Drug test? I worked 10 year at my last place and then semi-retired. The needed me back and I had to take the test. Good luck with the job!

Good job man....i did 20 months at UTI 16 weeks of that being Fords FACT training. intensive ford credentials training. i'll be a master tech this year. crazy to think a 22 year old could pack in enough school to be a master tech before alot of guys 10 years in the feild. Dont worry they hate me, if you do good they'll hate you too......

Great job you got lined up. I got a job at my local Ford dealer a year and 4 months ago, while only 19, and still in my first semester of technical school. In that time ive been the go to guy for most motor work, including diesel. When a job is on the line, and someone isnt getting the job done, they come looking for me. Work hard and show the bosses what you can do, and theyll notice.
