A little about me.
My name is Chris. Everyone calls me Stamps. I am new to fords. I've been a chevy guy most my life. I have an RB25DET powered 240sx, a 2002 WRX, a 2005 Trailblazer, and now a 1998 Ranger XLT. I currently live in San Diego, and i have been in the marines for the last 8 years. I am very mechanically inclined and do almost everything but machine work to my cars.

Now to the truck.
About 2 weeks ago I bought a 1998 Range XLT. I wasn't looking for a truck at the time but for $750 I could not pass it up. It is 4wd, extended cab, has a lift kit on the front, 3.0 v6. It did have a blown head gasket on the driver side. Within 2 days of me owning it both headgaskets were replaced and the truck was back driving around. Since then the idle air control valve and the EGR system has been posting codes. I replaced both the idle air control valve and the DPFE sensor. If the EGR system continues to post i will just replace all remaining components to it. I dont like that it has a 3 in lift in the front and nothing in the rear so I am waiting for my suspension blocks to get here. I also ordered a K&N intake kit because the previous owner made an intake for it that is not smog legal. All in all I only have about 1200 into the truck and so far loving it. Here is a picture about a week ago after i changed the headgaskets and decided to wash it and get it prepped for smog and registration.

Welcome to the Site ! .

Semper FI All The Way Brutha ! , Congrats on the Deal there ! , Very Nice Truck for the Price and Time and Money invested , Whats your Plans For Mods after its All Ready to go .

My first plan is to get it to pass smog out here in cali. If i was back in GA i wouldn't have to worry with this crap. Once the lifting block come in i'm going to level it out. Put the K&N on it and change the catback. The tires will need to be replaced within the next year or so so tires are in the near future.

Thank you for your service and welcome to owning a real truck :P I've never had a Ford fail me yet but chevy is a different story... Sounds like you scored an awesome deal on the truck and it looks good :icon_thumby:

It still needs work, but its all minor stuff that bothers me and most dont notice. Well found out today I need to get some vacuum lines for my front hubs on the ranger. I did not know they used vacuum lines to unlock the front hubs. Easy fix. The K&N will be here today probably while i am at work. The check engine light just came back on again for the EGR so guess i'm just going to replace the rest of the parts in that system and be done with it. Besides that its just do the fixes and get it to where i can pass smog. Once I am able to drive the ranger daily the 240sx will be taken back off the road to prep for this coming year's track days.

nice rides... u should go check out the tech library for any hints and tips to lift the rear cuz blocks will cause axle wrap and ud be better off just getting add a leafs... or actuall lift springs.

def diggin the s-chassis ima coupe guy myself but i gotta spot in my heart for all of em. i currently have a dsm fully built so anything boosted obvi makes me happy in the pants..truck looks sick especially considering i paid 8 for mine lol. thanks for your service!
