Hi guys, my name is Alan. I just recently bought my first ranger. It a 1988 supercab 4x4 5-speed. It cost me $1000. I am going redo the entire truck and make it into a dd/trail rig. I will post some pics.

It looks rough here, but I have already got a few things for it. I'll post those a pics later. I'm glad to be here and thanks for looking.

Howdy and welcome to TRS!

Looks like you've got a pretty good starting point. Doesn't look like it has much rust. Southern truck?

No it is not a southern truck it's just lucky I guess. Lol
It has one spot the needs fixed on the cab. I'm gonna get *new*doors with the right mirrors and wing windows. I want to finish the body work and paint it gunmetal gray w/black hood. The interior will be Black and Tan. But before that it's getting a 4.0l and a d35 and 8.8. Basically all the mechanical stuff will be done first. Then the other.

Sounds like a plan...

Try for a 95-97 D35. They have better brakes and still bolt in.

With the 4.0, do you plan on swapping dashes?
It makes the wiring easier, but changes the style of the truck.

+1 on finding a d35 around those years.

And as far as the wiring goes I would like to keep the dash orignal to the truck. So Ill just deal with the headache lol

It's not that hard. Just get the big white plug (It'll be obvious when you see one.) and a foot or so of wiring past it into the cab from your donor.

If you have specific questions on the wiring later PM me. I'll be happy to help. Just note that I'm usually only online once a week these days.
