well just thought i'd make an intro post....

I've never really been a truck guy.....and never thought i'd buy one....always been a car guy....

my current car:
02 Impreza RS, STi shortblock, PNP heads, cams, OS valves, ti springs/retainers, MHI td05H 18G turbo (about to go bigger), Hydra EMS standalone, and lots more....

but yeah....cars making around 350 whp....but i just blew the transmission, so i'll be upgrading tranny, and going bigger turbo (probably borg warner s366) over the next few months. But i needed a DD for while the car is down...

was looking at getting something small and girly like a city golf, a yaris, etc....then i pulled my head out of my ass and decided to keep some dignity...something i could haul engines/transmissions for my subie, and maybe tow it on a flatbed if needed (not sure if it'll be up to towing though....anyone have experience? the subie weighs 3000 lbs)...

so on saturday i picked up an 09 Ranger Sport....RWD (wanted the 4x4 but didn't want to spend the extra money :sad:)...4.0L V6, A/C, 5 speed....etc....

the truck will be my DD/weekend warrior...thinking about getting a 3" lift and some 31s, i'm not going to be doing any crazy mudding or offroading as it's not a 4x4, and its brand new so i dont want to beat it up too much...yet...

so a couple questions...what will i need for 3" lift / bigger tires....is the stock gearing/rear end up to the task? I know next to nothing about trucks, lol....also this rear diff sucks, one tire fire everywhere....thinking about upgrading to an LSD (is that what truck people do? lol)....i'm just worried about warranty and such.....does ford make a diff upgrade for my truck....it'll be pricey but might be worth it if i can get a dealership to install it and keep my warranty....

thats a nice subie sounds good by those videos. you run it on a track and if so whats it putting up for numbers

i mostly auto cross.....but with my old turbo td04 (400cfm @ 14.7 psi) i was running high 13s, with the 18G (600 cfm @ 14.7) at 22 lbs i ran 13.0, but i've had to take it easy on the stock tranny.....

with the new turbo and transmission im hoping for low 11s....but the car isn't built to be a straight line car...

Welcome to the group! No real standard on what the gearing you have but you would have the 8.8 rear end which is good enough for a 4x2. Learn your way around the site, there is a section up in the tech library on towing, tires per gear ratio and a lot of other good info.
Them little Subie's can really be made to run, got to be fun. Had one pull me a couple of car lengths from a go at 70. No wing or fart can on it, just got up and went. Nicest Ricer I've meet, we've waved at each other everytime we see each other. Really wondering what he is running.

:drool: beautiful scooby man... I love the bugeyes... makes me wish I woulda gotten an 02-03 instead of my ranger when I got rid of my 05 impreza.

But I don't think you'll need to re-gear, it would pry feel really good. I'm running 31's right now with 4.10's and it feels pretty decent... of course I've got the three liter so I'm lackin on power...
