Aye guys. Figured it's time to join up since I've been lurking for a few years.

Obviously, I'm Mac the plumber. And I own two rangers. The first one I bought that made me fall in love is my 01 4x4 automatic 4 door. Idk how many miles cause I haven't drove it in a year or so. But dang it RUNS good. Think it has 190. Transmission and t case are shot, but it runs good.

So, I just recently decided to get rid of my dart on payments and get another ranger. Thanks to my other one for getting me hooked. And, killing my interest in automatics. So I got a 94 manual 3.0. and I love it! It's a little gutless, but man it's a lot of fun. I'm having problems with it, but I anticipated that when I bought it. Luckily, I have a donor truck if I need a engine swap! I'm sure finding a 4.0 manual transmission will be cheaper than getting my 3.0 rebuilt. Plus the extra umph dang sure wouldn't hurt!

Welcome! I’ve got two Rangers and two Bronco IIs in my stable right now, lol. They’re great little trucks. One thing to keep in mind with the 3.0 is they make they’re power at higher RPMs, peak torque is made somewhere in the like 2,800-4,800 RPM if I remember right. Redline is up like 6,000, rev limiter is around 5,500. So don’t be afraid to run it to get the power. My 00 with the 3.0 scooted along pretty decent when I learned that.

If the body and frame are in good shape on the 01, I’d look into fixing that rather than use it as a donor. 01 has the 4.0 SOHC motor which was only in 01+ Rangers. The older ones used the OHV, so you would be into a lot of wiring work for the swap, have to basically graft in the whole harness. Not impossible by any means, just I prefer easier ways when possible, lol
