Greetings everybody!
Happy Holidays!:D I own a 1993 Explorer with the M5OD-R1 tranny. A friend who is a hyper perfectionist thought the rear end was going on it, so, being a bit frustrated after having put a new clutch and brakes in it, he decided the best course of action was to store it in his back yard and buy a 3rd gen model. Well, there it sat for four years. This last spring I took it off his hands for $300. 106k miles, new clutch, new brakes. Mint interior (except for the dog smell), all glass good, not a single dent on it. All I had to do was replace the fender relay to get it started, then diddle with the bumper thingy on the transfer case servo motor to get the electronic FWD to work and wha-la! An awesome daily driver!:headbang:
However, the other night the tranny blew up on the way home :annoyed: so I'll be begging for advice elsewhere in the forum shortly. Ya'll have a great Christmas!

Welcome to the station from a fellow northwesterner. Sounds like you got quite a deal there.

Welcome to TRS! Sounds like an awesome deal, even if the trans did let go on you. Where in Washington are you from?

Just down I-5 from you in Lacey.:icon_thumby: Do you recommend a yard/supplier in the area that I can get a used/rebuilt M5OD-R1 from?
Thanks for your reply and Merry Christmas!

Try Pick-a-part in OLympia for a cheap trans :headbang: And welcome

Cool. I think there are quite a few members here now from the South Sound area. I recently got an M5OD-R1 HD out of a 2005 ranger with 50K on it from Gundies in Graham for 500-600ish, can't remember exactly. They seem to have it together from what I can tell. I don't know much about the yards in the Olympia area, but in the Tacoma area the big ones seem to be Meridian Auto Wrecking (owned by B&R) in Graham (have bought a couple of engines from them), Gundies, and Roy Y Auto Wrecking.

welcome to the site sorry about the tranny crapping out on yea
